So, your child wants to act?

Ellen Marano loves the craft of acting and is exceptionally versed in the business of Hollywood.  A former actress turned acting coach, Ellen is the owner of Agoura Children’s Theater, a studio where children learn acting, staging and improv skills.  She is also mother to two of the most talented and sought after young Hollywood actors of today, Vanessa Marano, who currently stars as Bay in ABC’s “Switched at Birth,” and Laura Marano, best known for her starring role as Ally on Disney’s “Austin and Ally.”

Ellen began her career in show business as a theater and television actress, with roles on “Dynasty,” “Magnum P.I.” and “Sunset Beach” in the ’80s and ’90s.

Ellen transferred her love of acting and theater to her two daughters, and, as a parent of children who have been acting since they were very young, she is a wealth of knowledge.

Ellen has first hand knowledge of navigating children through honing their craft, finding the right agent, handling the business side of show business, teaching them to build their confidence and to deal with rejection, giving them skills to ace auditions, and much more, all the while keeping them grounded.

Acting professionally since the age of 7, Ellen’s oldest daughter, Vanessa, played Kyra Sedgwick’s sister in “The Closer,” Jack Malone’s daughter in “Without A Trace,” and Eden in “The Young and the Restless.”  Vanessa also achieved notoriety as April on “Gilmore Girls” before her starring role on “Switched at Birth.”

Meanwhile, younger daughter Laura began her hot career appearing alongside sister Vanessa in “Without a Trace,” and starring in Kelsey Grammer’s “Back to You,” and “The Sarah Silverman Program,” where she portrayed Sarah Silverman as a young girl.  Laura’s incredible skills include singing, which is showcased in her starring role on Disney’s “Austin & Ally.”

Ellen looks forward to “talking” to all of you and guiding you through the process of child acting.
